In a casual conversation, Tommy Martin and Shockwave Rods had a discussion about pros selling their very own 'Signature' rods to supplement their income.  That discussion lead to a revolutionary new idea in the way that 'top of the line' rods are made available to good fishermen who require the very best rod available.

The number one requirement that came from this discussion was that the rods had to be better than the pros favorite task specific rods and had to be duplicated in both power, action and design.

Shockwave Rods accepted this challenge and devised an accurate method for duplicating the pros existing rods.  Being a custom rod builder for many years, Shockwave Rods had the knowledge and ability to duplicate all the pros rods in both power and action but found that all the Shockwave Pros rods could be built lighter, more durable and be more sensitive than what they were currently using.

This was accomplished because Shockwave Rods has the knowledge of leading edge materials and most importantly they are one of the very first builders to use the now popular Micro Guides for about four years.  These small guides most definitely make a difference in a rods performance.

Prototype rods were built and tested by each pro.  After testing the pros had to truly believed they were as good as, or better than, what they were currently using.  If the first prototype was not perfect, additional prototypes were built until he was completely satisfied.  In other words the pro had to be totally convinced that the prototype was the best he could get and would use them every day.  A big difference from a pro simply authorizing his signature for a rod that someone else designed.
